Zonta International sponsors Z Clubs and Golden Z Clubs for high school, college and university students. Zonta Club of Rochester is proud to have two Z Clubs: Brighton High School and Webster Thomas Z Club.

Z and Golden Z Clubs develop leadership skills, promote career exploration and encourage youth to participate in community, school and international service projects. Zonta Clubs help the youth of today, tomorrow's leaders, build a better world.

Our volunteer activities include:

  • Zonta Derby Fest Fund Raiser
  • Buffalo Bills Camp
  • Breast Cancer Walk
  • House of Mercy Homeless Shelter Toy Drive
  • Wrapping Party for Toy Drive with Show
  • Sisterhood of Traveling Pants - Jean Collection for ABVI
  • Crisis Nursery Fund Raising and volunteer staffing

Brighton Z Club - new club formed
2nd Area Z Club forms May 2006

A new club has been established at Brighton High School by Freshmen Lauren Magin (club President), Samantha Margeson (Treasurer) and Sophmore, Mary Grace Hamme – (VP). The Z Club is sponsored by the Zonta Club of Rochester, an international organization with 1254 clubs in 67 countries. Z Clubs develop leadership skills, promote career exploration and encourage youth to participate in community, school and international service projects. Zonta Clubs help the youth of today, tomorrow's leaders, build a better world.

Webster Thomas Z Club (formed 2004) – President: Christie Leszczynski
Service Projects:
Jeans Drive- 3 girls, 4 hours each = 12 hours
Results:
150 jeans collected and donated to ABVI (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Campaign)
Crisis Nursery- 2 girls, 1 hour each – 2 hours
Tour nursery, sign up for volunteer opportunities
House of Mercy Homeless Shelter, Christie's Variety Show - 3 girls, 5 hours each = 15 hours (prep time), 5 girls, 4 hours = 20 (actual show), total 35 hours
Total service hours: 49 hours
Fundraising:
Freeset Bag Sales- 4 girls, 5 hours each = 20 hours
Results:
24 large bags sold @ $10.00 each = $240.00
Cost of bags @ 5.00 each = $120.00
50% of profit goes to Z Club = $ 60.00
50% of profit to Zonta = $ 60.00
Zonta Derbyfest - 2 girls, 1 1/2 hour each = 3 hours
Activities: Greet attendees
Total fundraising hours: 23 hours

New Z Club formed April 25, 2006
Service Projects:
Crisis Nursery- 3 girls, 1 hour each – 3 hours
Tour nursery, sign up for volunteer opportunities
Zonta Derbyfest - 2 girls, 6 hours each = 12 hours
Activities included: Set up, hand out bags, clean up

Total service hours: 15 hours

Fundraising: scheduled to sell bears for Crisis Nursery at a school event on 5/26/06.
