2004 International Women's Day. Zonta Club of Rochester honors Maggie Brooks, Monroe County Executive
Zonta (derived from a Lakota-Sioux Indian word meaning "honest and trustworthy") is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.

Zonta was established in 1919 in Buffalo, New York and has grown its presence to over 1,200 clubs in 70 countries. Clubs are nonpartisan and nonsectarian. Zonta Club of Rochester has a nonprofit status through Zonta Rochester Foundation, a 501c3.

Zonta Club of Rochester has organized efforts as varied as women's economic self-sufficiency, legal equality, access to education and health, and eradicating violence. Through community service projects and fundraising, Zonta Club of Rochester has been proud supporters of organizations such as: Friendship Children's Center, Freddy Thomas Learning Center, Alternatives for Battered Women, Safe Journey, CFC's Women's Place and more.

Zonta Club of Rochester thanks our local members and community for continued interest and support of our mission.
